Home Safety
Ensure your doors are locked at all times, whether you're at home or away. Before leaving your house, secure the windows and doors of any unoccupied rooms. It's crucial to avoid allowing strangers into your home under any circumstances. Be cautious about sharing personal information with strangers, whether it's over the internet, on social networking sites, or via phone, especially if you are not at home or are on vacation.
Do not remove batteries from or tamper with your smoke alarms, as they are essential for alerting you to the presence of smoke. If you live in a rental property, hostel, or hotel, having smoke alarms installed is a requirement. Should your residence lack smoke alarms, contact your landlord or real estate agent for assistance.
In the event you return home and discover signs of a break-in, such as a broken window or door lock, ensure your safety by calling the police from a safe distance.
